What is this all about?

We know that trying to fit in when you are a child or an adolescent can sometimes be really difficult. We also know that this can be even more challenging if your child has a sleep disorder, like narcolepsy or idiopathic hypersomnia. We're here to help you and your family learn more about how to help your son/daughter understand their central disorder of hypersomnolence and its impact on their social relationships.

Who are we?

We are a team of experts in pediatric sleep medicine, with decades of combined experience in helping patients with narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia live better lives. The design for this resource is led by Dr. Eric Zhou, an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He is supported by Dr. Kiran Maski, an Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, and Dr. Judith Owens, a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Zhou is a clinical health psychologist with expertise in behavioral and psychological treatments for sleep disorders.

Dr. Kiran Maski

Dr. Maski was the lead author in clinical treatment guidelines for patients with narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia.

Dr. Judith Owens

Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School

Dr. Owens is an internationally recognized authority in children's sleep and the Director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Boston Children's Hospital.
